Wellbeing
The gymnasium promotes healthy living and physical well-being, as well as offering a comprehensive timetable to allow men to engage with a range of physical activities. Sessions occur throughout the core day and on some evenings. Team based sports occur on weekends and separate sessions are available for those less able to encourage greater use.
Staff in the gym deliver qualifications in Personal Training and Gym Instructor.
Gymnasium
HMP Standford Hill gym facilities include a weights room, CV and running area, grass football pitch, and a cross country walk within our grounds. We offer a variety of sports including football, badminton, cricket, basketball, volleyball and yoga sessions. We also have classes to help tackle substance misuse through PE and bespoke remedial sessions to help the recovery from injury or illness.
The PE department pride themselves on community ties, with a variety of external groups using our facilities on a daily basis. These sessions are overseen by our trained gym orderlies and can count towards stage 1 community work.

We always try and develop our men that have achieved PE qualifications elsewhere and are always looking for new initiatives to develop their skills in preparation for progression to employment training or paid employment in the community.

The PE staff and gym department are committed to continued improvement of our facilities and activities at HMP Standford Hill.
